Linux Laptops

There are many kinds of operating systems (most commonly known as OS) for our Personal Computers and notebooks available on the market today.  There is the UNIX OS, the Mac OS, the Windows OS and the Linux OS. Computers have long been accommodating varied project manager jobs and operating systems and now laptops are also going with this trend.  We have been used to laptops running on Windows operating systems but, it also not to be overlooked are laptops running on Linux Operating Systems and they are known as Linux laptops.

Before only a few laptops are operating Linux OS because some laptops lack the proper hardware support for Linux such as limited graphics chips and internal modems and laptops often have IT Jobs in the UK with specialized internal mechanisms and hardware thus, finding appropriate drivers and hardware that can support the Linux OS proved difficult.  But now, all that has changed as a number of laptop manufacturers are making their specs more versatile to accommodate Linux OS.  The following laptop brands support the Linux OS:

  • Acer – Notelight and TravelMate models
  • Apple – iBook  and 867 PowerBook models
  • AST – Ascentia and M150
  • Asus – L8400 and L8400C
  • Baycom Worldbook
  • Best 1100
  • Canon Innova Book 150C
  • Clevo – Multimedia 86 and 8750
  • Compaq – Presario, Armada, Evo and Contura
  • Dell – Inspiron and Latitude Models
  • Digital – HiNote models
  • Fujitsu – Lifebook, 635T, and P 2040
  • Gericom – Supersonic and Webgine
  • Hewlett Packard – Pavilion and Omnibook
  • Hitachi VisionBook
  • IBM ThinkPad models
  • Integral 280 M
  • Micron – GoBook and Transport TREK
  • NEC Versa models
  • Olivetti Echos model
  • Panasonic ToughBook
  • ProStar
  • Sager
  • Sony – VAIO, Ultra and Z1
  • Texas Instruments – TravelMate and Extensa
  • Toshiba – Satellite, Libretto, etc
  • VPR matrix models
  • Winbook

To think about it, there are quite a number of Linux laptops.  It is because; Linux is a more stable OS as compared with other operating systems.  It is also more reliable in terms of network connections and security, and when your system is operating on Linux, it is not likely to crash.
